My 2009 manifesto

This is it, the new year has come. A new year which is going to be filled with excitement, joys, but also fears as far as I am concerned...

-- by kretyen

Because 2009 will see many huge changes in my life :

  • The end of my studies. Finally, no more exams, no more classes, no more teachers. It'll be the time for me to make my own way through a newly acquired independance. Very exciting!
  • 2 major travels : the first to Japan - only for one month, but there'll be more in the future - & next to the US, hopefully for a whole year. At last I will be able to become fluent in English & learn more Japanese!
  • Professional choices : up until now, I've been hesitating between lots of different jobs. A singer, a writer, a pro-blogger, a nurse (yes, no kidding!), a teacher, a librarian, etc. I could go on & on. Well, I'll need to pick what I really want to do with my life, but honestly, my preferences are already slowly making themselves clearer...
  • Leaving home : well, no surprise if I want to travel. But it's maybe the hardest thing I can think of that 2009 will bring. My brother & I are best friends, & living with my parents has always been great too. It is not easy to leave something that comfortable.

Facing these, I have two solutions : 1) be afraid & scream in anxiety; 2) be excited & look forward taking up the challenges.

Guess which one I intend to pick?

Ok, you're right, let's face it : a little bit of both... But mostly the second one, hopefully.

Following the pieces of advice I collected around me in order to conquer this thrilling future, I thought "What do I really want to do with my life? What are the biggest dreams I want to tend to?", picked up my moleskine, & basically summed these up in the following list (not exhaustive!). I want :

  • to be artisticly productive. Paintings, collages, drawings, or even digital artwork like webdesign & photography. I love them all & I want to keep learning. I have so many pictures in my head which ask only to be expressed in some graphical way. My future has to include this side of my personality.
  • to sing a lot & always. Singing is one of my reasons for living. This is the only thing about me that I never hated even in my darkest times... I heart music, & performing even more! I also want to keep composing &, even more importantly, writing lyrics.
  • to write & make my writing better! Especially in French (one of my goals is to write a novel, I think it'll be a dazzling experience), but why not in English too?
  • to read & learn, a lot. Novels, short stories, plays, movies, series, video games, new music, etc. Never rest on my already acquired knowledge, never lose curiosity.
  • to travel. Well of course, I can't wait to discover more atmospheres & cultures. I want to feel free. I am also thinking of an 'adventure' travel, you know, to leave with nearly nothing, walk & live on what others can offer in exchange for a song or any kind of help. Like Priscilla Telmon did in Tibet, or Sonia & Alexandre Poussin in Africa.
  • to meet all kind of people. I used to be (& sometimes still is...) a very shy girl. I want to get over that & make new friends all over the world & at my future home, without ever abandoning the real friendships I already have now.
  • to better my look & style. Yup, I want to be bold enough to dress exactly as I want to. I'm currently thinking of dying my hair & have a tattoo, & I'll go for it (that is, when I have enough money...). I want to wear bright & flashy colors without being afraid of what others are thinking, so I can stop in front of any mirror & be amazed by how great I look! Yeah!
  • finally, to leave a space open for a serious partner in life. This is important too, I think. Don't know what the future could bring.

Here they are, all the things I want my everyday life to be filled with. & I'll do anything to make them come true.

That's also precisely what I want this blog to be about : how I made my way towards my goals & how did they become reality.

So, happy new year to you, hope 2009 will be the year to pursue & reach your dreams, step by step. Remember, nothing is too high to be achieved if you cut it in smaller stages. That's the key to meeting your goals. Be greedy, be bold, dream a lot.

Pascale.

P.S. Want to try a tool to keep up with your goals this year? Try this. I personaly don't use it, but the idea's great.

PcP updated!

Yes, I'm still alive! Evidence is that I just updated the design of the blog, & I must say the result delights me! I'm thrilled, really. I love love love the new banner & favicon. I know I speak presumptuously, but whatever!

I wanted something new to begin the year, & something with more personality. The association black/pink seems perfect for that purpose (or at least I think so...).

I also want to use this post to apologize for the lack of interesting content these last few posts. I have some quieter days ahead of me so I'll do my best to rectify this.

Until then, take care everyone!

Pascale.

Feed me

More than 100. That’s the number of feeds I’m following each day.

I’ve been selecting those veery carefully, & still I spend no less than 1h each day reading them. & I must say it is a delight.

Each day I repeat to myself how lucky I am to live in the Internet era. Seriously, being able to be in your pajamas & be reading fantastic thoughts, hilarious texts, or inspiring experiences from people all over the world, what can be more exciting??

Reading my rss feeds is an important part of my morning routine : I wake up, have a yummy breakfast & sit in the company of my warm tea mug to read what the web has best (or somewhere near) to offer.

Sometimes I’m feeling overwhelmed by all the content rushing in, but what if I skip some posts? not a big deal.

Anyway, you can’t imagine how much inspiration & motivation I get from all the websites I’m following. Want a glimpse of those, just go there or look at this blog’s sidebar…

& you, can you tell me about the blogs you are happy to read every morning / night / day?

The December Nablopomo challenge

When I heard about it, I KNEW I had to give it a try.

The Nablopomo - or National Blog Posting Month - consists of a simple blogging challenge : write at least one entry a day on your blog. It may sound easy, but believe me, it can be reaally hard to keep up!

Originally, this challenge takes place in November, but people are do it every month, so for me it’ll be December: 31 days, 31 posts. Gosh, this is gonna be tough…

Especially given the fact that, because of too much partying this week (I admit it…), it seems I am falling ill. Nothing serious, but I fear this sore throat will grow into something more… Wait & see.

Hope you’re all doing well & had a great week-end!

Nablopomy yours,

Pascale.

Selfish request

Hey puppies !

I’m finally done with my new design, it took me some precious time to finish it but it’s exactly what I wanted : simple, clean, joyful. I also succumbed to the charm of some widgets, but whatever, the blog remains light.

So, now, I have to request something from you who still read this blog (I know there aren’t many of you, especially as you’ve realized the switch to an english-speaking blog) : could you please remove the previous RSS feed you used to replace it with my brand new Feedburner feed…? That’d be nice of you!

Happily yours,

Pascale.

P.S. French-speaking readers, don’t be mad at me, there’ll still be some space for my french babblings, I promise!

P.P.S. English-speaking readers, don’t be mad at me if you find mistakes, I’d rather you correct me!
